Tulungagung Minimarket Break-In: Soldier Detained After Attempted Robbery at Alfamart

TULUNGAGUNG – A Tulungagung minimarket break-in case involving an Indonesian soldier is now under investigation by the military police after the suspect was caught during an attempted robbery. Authorities transferred the case to Denpom Madiun in accordance with military law.

The suspect, identified as Serda AM, allegedly attempted to break into an Alfamart located in Kutoanyar. The incident occurred early Saturday morning in the district of Tulungagung.

Residents first grew suspicious after noticing unusual activity inside the minimarket late at night. They approached the store to investigate and soon confronted the suspect.

Witnesses said the suspect attempted to flee after residents discovered his actions. However, locals quickly chased and detained him before police officers arrived at the scene.

During the incident, the suspect suffered a head injury. Authorities later rushed him to Bhayangkara Hospital Tulungagung for medical treatment.

Local police initially secured the suspect before transferring the case to military authorities.

Hanny Galih Satrio confirmed that the legal process now falls under the jurisdiction of military police.

“The legal handling has been handed over to Denpom Madiun,” he said.

According to internal military records, the same soldier had previously been involved in a similar theft case in Trenggalek in 2024. At that time, he served an eight-month prison sentence before returning to active duty.

Military officials said Serda AM resumed service at the Pakel military sub-district command around six months ago.

Investigators have not yet questioned the suspect because he remains under medical treatment. Authorities plan to begin formal questioning once doctors declare his condition stable.

The Tulungagung minimarket break-in case continues to draw public attention as investigators work to determine the full details behind the attempted robbery.
