TRENGGALEK – Authorities in Trenggalek Regency are preparing for a possible Eid holiday tourist surge in 2026 as officials expect more visitors during the festive break.
The Trenggalek Tourism and Culture Office has started coordinating with several agencies. The goal is to anticipate traffic congestion and ensure smooth access to popular tourist destinations.
Acting head of the tourism office, Tony Widianto, said tourism activity has already increased since early 2026.
“We hope tourist visits during the Eid holiday this year will surpass last year’s numbers. The rise in tourism activity has been visible since the beginning of the year,” he said.
Officials expect many travelers to visit coastal attractions and culinary centers during the holiday period. Therefore, the local government is preparing traffic management plans to reduce congestion.
Several locations could experience heavy traffic. One key area is the intersection linking the Southern Cross Road (JLS) with the route to Pasir Putih Beach.
Traffic buildup may also occur near the smoked fish culinary center in Prigi and around the Simbaronce retribution checkpoint.
“Vehicle congestion usually happens in these areas. We plan to regulate traffic with temporary road controls or road median installations,” Widianto explained.
Authorities will also strengthen safety monitoring in tourist areas. Beach destinations will receive special attention because they attract large crowds during holidays.
Field officers will actively monitor visitor activities. They will ensure tourists follow safety guidelines along the coastline.
Officials also urge travelers to check weather conditions before visiting tourist sites. Weather changes can affect safety, especially in coastal areas.
Tourists from outside the region should consider safer travel routes. Even if the distance is longer, safer routes can reduce risks during the journey.
“Tourists should always check weather conditions and plan their routes carefully. That will help ensure a safe and comfortable trip,” Widianto said.
The preparations show the region’s effort to manage tourism growth while maintaining safety during one of Indonesia’s busiest travel seasons.
