TRENGGALEK – Trenggalek Village Elections 2027 are entering preparation as the local council vows to oversee all stages and prevent delays, including in villages that may face a single-candidate race.
Commission I of the Trenggalek Regional House of Representatives said 128 villages will join the 2027 simultaneous Pilkades. Terms for 123 elected village heads end on April 19, 2027. Five villages are now led by acting heads.
“Commission I will guard every stage of the 2027 Pilkades so village democracy stays competitive and legitimate,” said commission chair Mochamad Husni Tahir Hamid.
Husni warned that some villages may produce only one candidate. He said authorities must anticipate this early to protect competition.
“If a village has only one candidate, we can refer to regional election rules. We can place the scheme in local regulation without waiting for new national rules,” he said.
He stressed that Pilkades fall under district authority. Local government can adjust technical rules as long as they follow national law. He added that officials do not need to wait for new central regulations if existing rules still apply.
Husni also flagged governance risks in villages led by acting heads. He urged authorities to ensure appointments stay objective, transparent, and legally grounded.
Several village mid-term development plans (RPJMDes) will expire in 2025. He asked the district government to manage the transition carefully so services remain stable before the 2027 elections.
“The regent holds prerogative authority, but acting head appointments must stay objective and transparent,” Husni said.
