TRENGGALEK – The deteriorating Pelang Beach access road has sparked complaints from visitors, with many urging authorities to repair the route to one of Trenggalek’s most popular coastal destinations.
Tourists say the damaged road has reduced travel comfort and created unnecessary challenges for people visiting Pelang Beach, a scenic attraction in southern Trenggalek known for its natural beauty and weekend crowds.
One visitor, Wahyu, said he experienced difficulties while traveling through the entrance route leading to the beach area. He believes the road now requires immediate attention from local authorities.
According to Wahyu, improving the road would significantly enhance the travel experience for tourists and strengthen the area’s tourism appeal.
“Pelang Beach is beautiful, but the entrance road is now in poor condition and needs attention,” he said.
Pelang Beach remains one of the better-known tourist destinations in Trenggalek Regency. The beach regularly attracts families and travelers during weekends, public holidays, and school vacation periods.
Despite its popularity, the condition of the access route has become a growing concern. Visitors argue that transportation infrastructure should support tourism development rather than become an obstacle.
Field observations show that parts of the route now consist of dirt roads covered with small rocks. The situation has surprised many visitors because the road was previously paved.
Residents and tourists have questioned why the route has deteriorated to such an extent. The issue has gained attention at a time when discussions continue about improving tourism facilities in other coastal destinations around the Prigi area.
Many travelers believe road infrastructure plays a critical role in attracting visitors. Comfortable access often influences travel decisions, especially for families and tourists arriving from outside the region.
Wahyu visited Pelang Beach with his family during the recent long holiday period. Although they enjoyed the destination, they hope authorities can prioritize repairs to improve future visits.
He said better road conditions would create a safer and more comfortable journey for tourists. Improved access could also encourage repeat visits and strengthen the local tourism sector.
Even with the current road conditions, Pelang Beach continues to receive visitors. Tourist numbers remain lower than those recorded in the Prigi tourism area, but travelers still choose Pelang Beach for its natural scenery and relaxing atmosphere.
Local residents also recognize the economic importance of tourism. Many small businesses near the beach depend on visitor spending to support their livelihoods.
Tourism observers often note that infrastructure and destination quality go hand in hand. A well-maintained access road can improve visitor satisfaction and encourage longer stays.
For that reason, many visitors hope local authorities and related agencies will move quickly to repair the Pelang Beach access road. They believe better infrastructure could increase tourist arrivals, strengthen local businesses, and support the long-term growth of tourism in southern Trenggalek.
