TRENGGALEK – Trenggalek authorities are mapping school readiness for the 2026 Academic Ability Test as officials collect data on computer and laptop needs across the district. The assessment, known as TKA, will involve final year students and serve as a key benchmark for school admissions.

However, preparations remain incomplete because many schools still lack sufficient devices. Therefore, the Trenggalek Education Office is surveying infrastructure and equipment in every school. Education Office head Agoes Setiyono said his team is prioritizing data on devices students will use during the exam.

“We are collecting data on school readiness, especially the number of computers or laptops required for the Academic Ability Test,” he said.

Technically, the exam will likely mirror Indonesia’s former computer-based national exams. Each testing room will require a proctor and a technician so schools can respond quickly to technical problems. Meanwhile, the TKA measures literacy, numeracy, and learning environment indicators rather than subject mastery.

Agoes stressed that the test will not determine graduation. Instead, the results will support academic track admissions in the national student enrollment system.

Registration for junior secondary students runs from January 19 to February 28, 2026. After that, simulation tests take place from February 23 to March 1, followed by rehearsal sessions from March 9 to 17.

The main TKA for junior secondary schools runs from April 6 to 16. If students miss the test, schools will hold makeup exams from May 11 to 17. Officials will process results from May 18 to 23 and release scores on May 24.

Primary school timelines follow a similar structure. Registration and data updates run from January 19 to February 28. Then, simulations take place from March 2 to 8 and rehearsals from March 9 to 17.

Primary level testing runs from April 20 to 30. Afterwards, schools will hold makeup sessions in mid-May, and officials will announce results on May 24.

All final year students are expected to take the Academic Ability Test. Junior secondary schools will implement the exam first, and primary schools will follow.

Agoes said TKA scores will determine academic achievement pathways in Indonesia’s new student admission system. Primary results will support entry into junior secondary schools, while junior secondary scores will support admission to senior secondary education.

Therefore, officials aim to complete infrastructure mapping soon so all schools can conduct the 2026 Academic Ability Test without technical disruption.
