TRENGGALEK – Prison visiting hours at the Class IIB State Detention Center in Trenggalek will return to the regular schedule after authorities provide special Eid visits for inmates and their families during Idul Fitri.
During the Eid holiday, the detention center will open family visits for three consecutive days. Normally, the facility only allows visits twice a week.
Head of the Trenggalek Class IIB detention center, Teddy Haryanto, said officials adjusted the policy to give inmates more time with relatives during the holiday. Therefore, the schedule will follow the official government date for Eid.
“If Eid falls on Friday, then visits will open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If Eid falls on Saturday, then visits will open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,” Teddy said.
To handle expected crowds, officers will also extend service hours. In addition to the morning session, visitors can also come in the afternoon.
Registration opens from 9:00 a.m. until noon. After that, officers reopen registration from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Even so, each family visit will last around 30 minutes. This way, officers can give equal access to all visitors.
As of March 17, 2026, the Trenggalek detention center held 246 inmates. Meanwhile, officials proposed 168 inmates for Special Remission I and one inmate for Special Remission II.
Unlike regular visits, officers will direct Eid meetings to the main hall. The larger space can accommodate around 200 visitors at one time.
As a result, the detention center expects smoother service during the peak holiday period. Officials also want to reduce congestion in regular visiting areas.
After the Eid period ends, prison visiting hours will return to normal. From then on, regular visits will only take place every Tuesday and Thursday.
