TULUNGAGUNG – A Tulungagung sticker shop burglary suspect has been arrested after stealing tens of millions of rupiah from a local business in East Java, police said.

The break-in occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on January 9 in Bantengan village, Bandung district. The shop belonged to Ahmat Jalil, 35. He had left the premises unattended overnight.

The suspect, identified as DCS, 23, first checked the surroundings. He then forced the door lock open using a screwdriver. After entering, he searched for cash storage inside the shop.

He pried open a drawer and took around 30 million rupiah in cash, according to police.

The victim discovered the theft later that morning and reported it to police. Investigators quickly traced evidence to the suspect.

Officers arrested DCS on February 12 along Kepatihan roadside in Tulungagung. They then searched his rented room in Plosokandang.

Police recovered key evidence, including a Yamaha Vega ZR motorcycle, 13.8 million rupiah in cash, and a Samsung Galaxy A11 phone. They also seized clothing worn during the burglary and two screwdrivers believed to be the tools used.

Police said DCS is a repeat offender. He has prior convictions for vehicle theft and aggravated theft in Trenggalek.

He admitted the burglary during questioning, officers said. Authorities have detained him at Tulungagung Police headquarters.

Prosecutors charged him under Article 477 paragraph (1) subsections e and f of Indonesia’s Criminal Code.

Police urged business owners to strengthen security, especially when leaving shops unattended. They also advised residents to report suspicious activity immediately.
