TRENGGALEK – Kampak-Munjungan main road in Bendoagung Village, Kampak District, has drawn complaints from residents because of its worsening condition. Large potholes across the road now threaten drivers and disrupt daily transportation.

The damaged road serves as one of the main routes connecting Kampak and Munjungan districts in southern Trenggalek. Many vehicles pass through the area every day, including motorcycles, private cars, and goods transport.

Residents say the road damage has lasted for a long time. However, they believe the government has not handled the problem properly.

Field observations show potholes of various sizes along the road. Some holes sit near the roadside, while others appear in the middle of the street, making travel more dangerous.

Several potholes are deep enough to force drivers to reduce speed. Motorcyclists must also move carefully and search for safer paths to avoid accidents.

Local resident Indra said the damaged road has become a serious concern for people who use the route every day.

“There are many holes here, and many of them are quite deep,” he said on Monday (April 27).

He explained that conditions become worse during the rainy season. Rainwater often fills the potholes and hides their depth, making them difficult for drivers to notice.

This situation increases the risk of traffic accidents, especially for motorcyclists traveling at night or during heavy rain.

According to Indra, the Kampak–Munjungan road is a vital access point for the local community. It supports transportation between two important districts and helps residents carry out daily economic activities.

“This is the main road, so vehicles pass through it almost every day. When the road is damaged like this, it clearly disrupts daily activities,” he added.

Besides safety concerns, the poor road condition also affects vehicles. Drivers often worry that deep potholes will damage tires, suspension systems, and other vehicle parts.

Many road users now slow down significantly when passing through the damaged section. This often makes traffic less efficient, especially during busy hours.

Residents believe immediate repairs are necessary because the road plays a strategic role in supporting local trade, access to workplaces, and mobility across southern Trenggalek.

They also fear the damage will continue to spread if officials delay repairs, especially during the rainy season when road surfaces weaken faster.

People in the area hope the local government will respond quickly and prioritize road restoration so the Kampak-Munjungan main road becomes safe and comfortable again for all users.
