RADAR BLITAR – KAI has opened bookings for additional Eid train tickets for the 2026 holiday travel season, aiming to absorb an expected surge in passenger demand during the annual homecoming period.
Kereta Api Indonesia began releasing the extra tickets in stages from 00:01 Western Indonesia Time on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The added capacity includes 10 long-distance train services either departing from or passing through the company’s Madiun operational region.
Tohari, public relations manager for KAI’s Madiun regional office, said the move was designed to give travelers more flexibility in planning their Eid journeys. “We want to provide wider options so people can arrange their trips comfortably and safely,” he said.
Among the additional services is the Brantas Extra train connecting Blitar and Pasar Senen in Jakarta, departing from Blitar Station. Other routes include the Sancaka line between Surabaya Gubeng and Yogyakarta, the Gajayana Extra service linking Malang and Jakarta’s Gambir Station, an additional Surabaya Gubeng–Gambir train, and the Pasundan Extra route between Surabaya Gubeng and Kiaracondong in Bandung.
As of Feb. 16, KAI reported strong ticket sales for both regular and additional Eid services scheduled between March 11 and April 1, 2026. A total of 47,444 tickets – about 59% of the 80,124 seats available – had already been sold.
With seats still available, the company urged passengers to secure tickets promptly through official channels. “Book through the official KAI application to avoid ticket brokers and fraud,” Tohari said.
KAI’s Eid travel season operations support the annual mudik migration, when millions of Indonesians return to their hometowns. Railways remain a key transport mode on Java, connecting major cities and regional hubs across the island.
