TRENGGALEK – Bus schedule changes will affect several intercity routes from Surodakan Terminal in Trenggalek starting May 25. Operators adjusted departure times after congestion increased due to the Gondang Bridge repair project in Tulungagung.
Terminal officials confirmed that buses will depart one hour earlier than usual. Authorities introduced the policy to prevent major delays and keep transportation services running smoothly.
The adjustment affects several AKDP bus routes. Those routes connect Trenggalek with Surabaya, Malang, and Banyuwangi.
Devi Ariandi, Head and Deputy Service Coordinator of Surodakan Type A Terminal, said terminal officials coordinated with bus companies before changing the schedules.
According to Devi, traffic near the Gondang Bridge project has increased travel time on several roads. Buses passing through Durenan, Pasar Bandung, and Campurdarat now face longer journeys.
“We agreed to move departure schedules one hour earlier so buses can avoid delays during the trip,” he said.
Bus operators expect the earlier departures will help drivers maintain normal arrival times. They also hope the adjustment can reduce disruptions for passengers.
Terminal authorities instructed all bus crews to continue serving passengers inside the terminal area. Drivers and conductors must still pick up and drop off passengers at official terminal points.
Officials want terminal operations to continue normally during the bridge repair period. They also aim to prevent illegal roadside passenger activity.
Several passengers have already received information about the changes through transportation agents and public announcements. However, terminal management still encourages travelers to confirm schedules before leaving home.
The temporary policy will remain in effect until traffic conditions improve. Authorities have not announced when normal schedules will return.
The Gondang Bridge repair project has also affected logistics vehicles and private transportation in recent weeks. Traffic congestion continues to appear on several roads connecting Trenggalek and Tulungagung.
Transportation officials continue coordinating with related agencies to monitor conditions in the area. They also continue sharing updated travel information with the public.
Terminal management hopes passengers can quickly adapt to the new departure schedules. Officials also want travelers to arrive earlier at the terminal to avoid missing buses.
The Gondang Bridge route remains one of the busiest transportation links in southern East Java. Thousands of vehicles use the road every day for travel and logistics activity.
