BLITAR – A suspected suicide case in Blitar is under police review after a 62-year-old man was found dead at his home in Gandekan village, Wonodadi district, authorities said.
Family members discovered the victim late in the morning and alerted relatives and local police. Officers from Blitar City Police responded to the scene along with local health workers to conduct an initial examination.
Police spokesperson AKP Samsul Anwar said relatives had earlier received a voice message indicating the man felt overwhelmed and was saying goodbye. Shortly afterward, family members found him unresponsive at the rear of the house.
Investigators reported no external injuries or indications of assault on the body. Based on preliminary findings, police believe the death likely resulted from self-harm linked to personal or family distress.
“Officers did not find signs of violence. The initial conclusion points to suicide related to family problems,” Samsul said.
The victim was at home with relatives at the time of the incident. Health officials from the local clinic carried out a medical check in line with the family’s request.
After the examination, authorities released the body to relatives for burial. Police said they would not pursue further criminal investigation given the absence of foul play.
Local officials expressed condolences to the family and urged residents to seek support during emotional crises. Community leaders also encouraged families to remain attentive to mental health concerns among relatives and neighbors.
