BLITAR – Authorities in Blitar Regency have intensified UTTP inspection ahead of the upcoming Eid holiday. Mobility and commercial transactions usually surge during the annual travel season, prompting officials to strengthen consumer protection.
The inspection focuses on devices known as UTTP. These include measuring, weighing, and metering tools commonly used in business transactions.
Officials are paying special attention to locations expected to see the biggest rise in activity. Fuel stations and courier service offices are among the main targets.
Rica Noviandar said the local Industry and Trade Office has deployed metrology teams to conduct surprise inspections at several strategic locations.
“We are prioritizing fuel stations and courier offices because activity in these places increases significantly ahead of Eid,” Rica said.
She explained that the inspections aim to ensure all measuring devices used by businesses have passed calibration and re-calibration procedures. The process must follow official regulations.
Accurate measurement tools play a crucial role in consumer protection. They help prevent financial losses when people buy fuel or use delivery services during the busy holiday period.
So far, preliminary monitoring has not found any UTTP devices that deviate from the required standards.
“Based on our field observations, the measuring instruments are still operating according to regulations,” Rica said.
Nevertheless, authorities will continue monitoring activities until the Eid holiday approaches. The goal is to ensure compliance among all business operators.
If inspectors later discover measuring instruments that fail to meet standards, the agency will take firm action.
“We will impose sanctions ranging from warnings to the withdrawal of measuring devices if necessary,” she added.
In addition to inspections, the Industry and Trade Office also provides direct outreach to traders and business owners. Officials encourage them to conduct routine recalibration to maintain accuracy and legal certification.
Authorities also urge the public to remain cautious when conducting transactions. Consumers should check the calibration seal on weighing devices and request a purchase receipt as proof of transaction.
Officials hope the strengthened UTTP inspection will maintain fair trade practices and ensure consumers remain protected during the busy Eid travel period.
