RADAR TRENGGALEK – Local authorities in Trenggalek are tightening Ramadan regulations for food stalls, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Officials urge businesses to operate discreetly and respect the fasting month.
The Satpol PPK Trenggalek issued the reminder under a regent’s circular on Ramadan operations. The rules aim to maintain order and respect for Muslim worshippers.
Acting secretary Tugas Rulatno said eateries may open during the day. However, owners must avoid visible dining activity. He instructed operators to install curtains or screens at entrances to limit street visibility. “Food stalls and restaurants may operate, but they should not appear conspicuous,” he said.
Authorities require all nightlife venues to close for the entire month. Officials say the closure helps preserve a calm atmosphere during Ramadan. The region’s Muslim majority observes fasting and evening worship throughout the period.
Officers now conduct daily patrols across busy commercial areas. Teams inspect sites in the morning and late afternoon, when activity peaks. They prioritize persuasion and dialogue over penalties.
Field checks still find some eateries operating openly without coverings. “Oversight continues. If we find violations, we give reminders in a persuasive and humane manner,” Rulatno said.
Enforcement also covers seasonal vendors, including takjil sellers active before sunset. Officials stress that the goal is balance, not restriction. They want commerce to continue without disturbing the Ramadan atmosphere.
Authorities urge residents and businesses to follow Regional Bylaw No. 3/2019 on public order and safety. Compliance, they say, will help keep Trenggalek peaceful through Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr period next month.
