TRENGGALEK – Pasar Pon Trenggalek has started to see a gradual rise in shoppers as Eid al-Fitr approaches. However, traders say the increase remains moderate and the market has not reached its usual pre-holiday rush.
Several vendors report that the number of customers still resembles regular daily traffic. Even so, they acknowledge a slight increase compared with normal trading periods outside the Ramadan season.
Abu M, a trader at Pasar Pon Trenggalek, said he has noticed a small rise in buyers in recent days. The increase, however, remains far from the crowded conditions that traders often experience closer to Eid.
“It’s not crowded yet, but there has been some increase compared to regular days,” Abu said while serving customers at his stall.
According to Abu, markets in the region often remain relatively calm during most of Ramadan. Residents usually begin shopping in large numbers only a few days before Eid al-Fitr, when families start preparing food, clothing, and other essentials for the celebration.
He expects the market to become busier during the upcoming school holiday period or around five days before Eid. During that time, many households typically finalize their shopping for the holiday festivities.
“The crowd will likely appear during the school break or around five days before Eid,” he said.
Despite the slower pace, traders continue to run their businesses as usual. Abu said he remains grateful that buying and selling activities continue, even though the market has not yet reached its peak period.
“We are still thankful, even with the current situation,” he added.
Observations at Pasar Pon Trenggalek show that trading activity continues steadily throughout the market. Shoppers still visit the market to purchase kitchen supplies, fresh ingredients, and other daily necessities.
However, visitor numbers remain lower than the dense crowds typically seen in the final days before Eid. Traders say the real rush often arrives when people begin preparing seriously for the holiday.
In several corners of the market, more visitors have started to appear, offering early signs that shopping activity may soon increase. Vendors hope the number of buyers will continue to grow in the coming days as Eid al-Fitr draws closer.
For many traders, the days leading up to the holiday remain one of the most important periods of the year, when stronger consumer demand often boosts sales across traditional markets.
