BLITAR – Blitar Hajj pilgrim death toll has increased to three after an elderly pilgrim from Blitar Regency died in Makkah while performing voluntary worship following the completion of key Hajj rituals.

Local authorities confirmed that the pilgrim was 66-year-old Multazamah Said Mukarom, a resident of Gaprang Village in Kanigoro District. She belonged to Group 108 of the Surabaya Hajj Embarkation and died on Monday at the Future Light Hotel in the Misfalah area of Makkah.

Purnomo, Acting Head of the Blitar Regency Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, said the pilgrim had a history of diabetes. However, she did not receive hospital treatment before her death.

“According to the information we received, she had a history of diabetes and did not undergo treatment at a hospital before passing away,” Purnomo said on Tuesday.

He explained that Multazamah had recently returned to her hotel after completing worship activities. Upon arriving at the hotel, she felt unwell and decided to rest in her room.

After some time, companions attempted to wake her. They then discovered that she had died.

“Mrs. Multazamah felt unwell after returning to the hotel. She rested in her room, and when people tried to wake her up, they found that she had passed away,” Purnomo said.

Throughout her pilgrimage, Multazamah traveled with her son, who accompanied her in the Holy Land. Despite her medical history, she remained in relatively good condition during the pilgrimage.

Officials noted that she successfully completed the series of rituals in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina without requiring a wheelchair. Earlier on the day of her death, she had breakfast and joined activities with fellow pilgrims without reporting any health complaints.

Purnomo described her as a strong pilgrim who managed to complete the most demanding stages of the Hajj pilgrimage. She had already performed the standing ritual at Arafah and completed Tawaf Ifadah, one of the essential rites of Hajj.

Saudi Arabian health authorities have handled the funeral procedures and burial process in accordance with regulations that apply to pilgrims who die in the Holy Land.

Meanwhile, officials reported that the overall condition of pilgrims from Blitar remains stable. Some pilgrims have experienced minor illnesses, including coughs and flu symptoms, after completing the peak period of worship.

Officials also confirmed that all pilgrims from Blitar City have completed Tawaf Ifadah. This includes pilgrims who used wheelchairs during the ritual. Pilgrims from Blitar Regency have also completed the ritual as part of their Hajj obligations.

With Multazamah’s passing, the number of Blitar Regency pilgrims who have died during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage has reached three. Earlier, authorities reported the deaths of two male pilgrims from Group 107 after they completed the Wukuf ritual in Arafah.
