RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – Daughter of Indonesian author Ahmad Bahar F has filed complaints with Indonesia’s National Commission on Human Rights and National Commission on Violence Against Women after she accused members of GRIB Jaya and its chairman, Hercules, of intimidation and inhumane treatment during a confrontation linked to a hacked WhatsApp account.
The woman, identified only as F, arrived at the two institutions on Thursday, May 21, 2026, accompanied by representatives from LBH APPP Muhammadiyah. She asked authorities to investigate what she described as psychological intimidation and coercion after several GRIB Jaya members took her to the organization’s headquarters in West Jakarta on May 17.
The allegations quickly drew public attention because they involved Hercules, the influential chairman of GRIB Jaya, and raised broader concerns about the conduct of mass organizations in Indonesia.
Human Rights Complaint Filed Against GRIB Jaya
According to Gufroni, chairman of public research and advocacy at LBH APPP Muhammadiyah, the legal team submitted evidence and testimony to both Komnas HAM and Komnas Perempuan regarding what they described as “inhumane treatment” toward F.
F alleged that she was pressured and interrogated at the GRIB Jaya headquarters after several individuals claiming to be organization members arrived at her family home searching for her father, author Ahmad Bahar F. The group reportedly objected to TikTok content posted by Ahmad Bahar that they believed targeted Hercules, chairman of GRIB Jaya.
Because Ahmad Bahar was not home at the time, F said the group insisted she accompany them to the organization’s office. Her mother, Yani Nur, later stated that her daughter was effectively used as leverage to pressure Ahmad Bahar into meeting Hercules directly.
During the meeting, F claimed Hercules accused her of sending threats against him and his wife through WhatsApp messages. She repeatedly denied the allegation, arguing that her account had previously been hacked.
F also alleged that she experienced intimidation during the encounter, including verbal remarks she considered inappropriate and requests that she remove her hijab. In one of the most serious accusations, she claimed Hercules displayed a firearm and fired it twice while she was present inside the headquarters.
Hacked WhatsApp Account Triggered the Dispute
F explained that the conflict started days earlier when someone allegedly hacked her WhatsApp account. She said the incident began after her phone received an OTP notification on Thursday evening.
Shortly afterward, the account suddenly logged out, and she could no longer access it. F said she repeatedly tried to log back in but never received the verification code needed to restore access.
After contacting Telkomsel customer service, she finally regained access to the account. By that time, however, several messages had already circulated from her number.
Friends later informed her that someone had used her account to send offensive messages and videos connected to her father. Screenshots shared with her allegedly contained four videos related to Ahmad Bahar, leading the family to suspect the hack targeted him specifically.
F later received messages from individuals demanding an explanation for the content sent from her account. Although she clarified that hackers had controlled the account temporarily, the controversy escalated days later when GRIB Jaya members visited her home again.
F Describes Intimidation During Meeting With Hercules
During the meeting at the headquarters, F said Hercules accused her of threatening him and his wife through WhatsApp messages. She repeatedly denied sending the messages and insisted hackers controlled the account at the time.
F also described several moments that she considered intimidating and degrading. She claimed people inside the office made inappropriate remarks toward her and ordered her to remove her hijab.
In one of the most serious allegations, F said Hercules displayed a firearm and fired two shots while she remained inside the room. She said the atmosphere made her feel frightened, pressured, and cornered throughout the questioning.
The incident has intensified calls for authorities to investigate the actions of GRIB Jaya members and determine whether criminal violations occurred during the confrontation.
Although Ahmad Bahar previously said he had resolved the dispute through mediation at the Depok Metro Police precinct, F insisted the intimidation she experienced left a deep psychological impact.
“I felt pressured and intimidated,” F said while recounting the incident before human rights officials.
Authorities have not announced whether they will launch a formal investigation into the allegations against Hercules or other GRIB Jaya members.
