TULUNGAGUNG – Several protest banners displaying sharp social criticism drew public attention at the TT Roundabout in Tulungagung on Thursday afternoon.

The banners appeared around 12:11 p.m. and quickly caught the attention of motorists and pedestrians passing through one of the city’s busiest intersections. The messages featured satire and criticism related to healthcare, education, and public representation.

Among the most striking phrases were “Healthcare Corrupted,” “Education Hit by Illegal Fees,” and “Seize the People’s Aspirations.” The statements appeared in large lettering across three banners installed around the traffic circle.

Authorities had not identified the people responsible for placing the banners as of Thursday afternoon. However, the installation immediately sparked curiosity among local residents and road users.

Many drivers reportedly slowed down to read the messages displayed in the middle of the roundabout. Some pedestrians also stopped briefly to observe the banners and discuss their meaning.

The criticism appeared to reflect broader public concerns regarding social services and democratic representation. The healthcare sector, education system, and public participation have remained sensitive issues in many Indonesian regions in recent years.

Although no speeches or demonstrations accompanied the installation, the banners transformed the roundabout into a symbolic space for public expression.

Without crowds or loud protests, the messages conveyed criticism directly to the public through short but powerful statements. The unusual display stood out amid the busy flow of traffic and daily city activities.

For a brief moment, the TT Roundabout became more than a transportation hub. The location instead turned into a silent stage for social criticism in the center of Tulungagung.

The appearance of protest banners in public spaces often reflects growing frustration among communities over unresolved social and political issues. In this case, the anonymous messages managed to attract attention without disrupting public order or traffic conditions.
