BLITAR – KA Dhoho train crash Blitar incident disrupted rail traffic on Tuesday night after a sand truck stalled on a railway crossing and was struck by a passing train.

The accident took place at a railway crossing on Imam Bonjol Street in Blitar City at around 9:45 p.m. local time. The KA Dhoho train, which operates on the Blitar–Malang route, collided with the truck after it broke down just meters from the tracks.

Police said the truck was traveling from north to south and attempted to cross the railway as the warning barriers began to close. Officers suspect the driver tried to pass before the gate fully lowered.

“At the same time, the train was approaching from the west. The crossing gate was already coming down, but the truck continued moving forward,” said Ipda Suratno, head of traffic law enforcement at Blitar City Police.

Just moments before reaching the tracks, the truck’s engine suddenly failed. The vehicle stopped very close to the railway line, leaving it stuck in the path of the oncoming train.

Nearby residents rushed to help push the truck away from danger. However, they could not move it in time, and the train struck the front section of the vehicle.

The driver managed to escape seconds before the impact. He got out of the truck after hearing the approaching train and moved to safety.

“The driver survived and only suffered shock,” Suratno said.

The collision severely damaged the front of the truck but caused no fatalities. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the engine failure and the sequence of events.

The incident briefly disrupted train operations. Officials redirected the train back to Blitar Station to replace its locomotive before resuming service.

Emergency teams later removed the truck manually, as it could not be moved immediately after the crash. Officers pulled it away from the tracks to restore normal railway operations.
