TRENGGALEK – The KONI Trenggalek 2026-2028 leadership officially began on Thursday (April 23) as Doding Rahmadi took over as chairman and pledged stronger sports development ahead of the 2027 East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).
The inauguration took place at Pendapa Manggala Praja and marked an important transition for the regional branch of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI). The appointment followed an interim replacement mechanism for the remaining term until 2028.
During the ceremony, officials formally appointed Doding Rahmadi as chairman of KONI Trenggalek. He will lead the organization for the rest of the current term, which lasts less than two years.
Doding said the new management combines experienced officials from the previous board with several new members. He believes this structure will strengthen the organization and improve sports performance across the regency.
“Today’s inauguration continues the 2026-2028 term through an interim replacement process. We kept some former officials and added new members to strengthen the organization,” he said.
Currently, KONI Trenggalek oversees 35 sports branches. All of them are expected to contribute to better athletic performance and stronger regional achievements.
Doding also introduced a new management system for sports branches. The organization will divide them into three groups: priority sports, achievement sports, and emerging sports.
Priority sports include those that have won gold or silver medals. Achievement sports are branches with strong results in Porprov or provincial championships. Emerging sports are newer branches that still need further development.
He said this system will help KONI provide more focused and effective training. It will also strengthen cooperation between officials, athletes, and the public.
At the same time, KONI Trenggalek has started preparing for the 2027 East Java Porprov. Officials began the process in May 2026, one year before the competition.
“We are evaluating athletes who are ready for Porprov 2027. We target around 20 athletes for a full-year training camp,” Doding explained.
To support the program, KONI Trenggalek received Rp 1 billion in funding this year. The budget will cover athlete development, training camps, and secretariat operations.
Meanwhile, East Java KONI chairman Muhammad Nabil attended the event and encouraged the new leadership to deliver stronger results. He stressed that consistent training and serious preparation remain the keys to success.
“Trenggalek must show improvement. Anyone can enter sports, but achievement depends on discipline, consistency, and experience,” he said.
He also said focusing on leading sports branches would directly improve Trenggalek’s performance in Porprov and other competitions.
