TRENGGALEK – Trenggalek fire alert during Eid has entered full operation as local firefighters remain on 24-hour standby to respond to possible emergencies during the holiday period.

Authorities say extra caution is necessary because many residents leave home to visit relatives during Eid al-Fitr, increasing the risk of unattended household hazards.

Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja dan Kebakaran Kabupaten Trenggalek chief Habib Solehudin said most residential fires begin with simple negligence inside the home.

He noted that residents often forget to switch off electrical appliances or fail to check gas cylinders before leaving.

“Most fire incidents happen because people forget basic safety steps, such as turning off electrical equipment or checking gas cylinders before going out,” Habib said.

He urged residents to inspect gas hoses and shut off regulators before leaving their homes.

That step helps prevent leaks that can trigger fires when houses remain empty for several hours.

Officials also advised residents to unplug unused electronic devices.

Short circuits remain one of the most common causes of home fires during holiday periods.

“Unused electrical devices should be disconnected from power sources to reduce the risk of short circuits,” he said.

Authorities also warned people not to store flammable materials carelessly inside the house.

Fuel and other combustible items should stay far from heat sources and open flames.

Habib said fire crews will continue operating without interruption throughout the Eid holiday.

All emergency fire response services in Trenggalek remain available free of charge for residents.

“Firefighters stay on duty for 24 hours. If a fire or any emergency happens, people can contact us immediately,” he said.

Officials also inspected fire trucks and operational equipment to ensure every unit remains ready if an emergency call arrives.
