BLITAR – Blitar Eid traffic control has intensified as police deploy three special response teams to manage congestion during the Eid al-Fitr travel period. Officers are focusing on roads expected to carry the heaviest traffic, including national highways, district alternative routes, and the Southern Cross Route (JLS).
The Blitar Police Traffic Unit assigned each team to a separate corridor to improve vehicle flow and respond quickly when traffic builds up.
Iptu Putut Siswahyudi, operations officer at the traffic unit, said the first team operates along the Garum–Selorejo corridor. Ipda Juli Hartanto leads that team with eight officers on duty.
“The first team monitors the Garum to Selorejo route and responds immediately if traffic density increases,” Putut said.
He added that the second team covers the southern corridor from Kademangan Kademangan to Siraman Intersection Simpang Tiga Siraman in Kesamben Kesamben.
Putut directly leads that second team with another eight personnel.
The third team supports traffic control along the Southern Cross Route, a major access road to southern coastal tourism areas.
Police expect heavy vehicle movement there because many holiday travelers head to beach destinations during the long holiday period.
In total, 311 personnel are taking part in Operation Ketupat Semeru 2026, the annual Eid security operation across Blitar Regency Blitar Regency.
The deployment includes officers from the police, military personnel, local agencies, and community groups.
“We deployed 311 personnel to maintain smooth traffic during both the outbound and return Eid travel periods,” Putut said.
To support road operations, police have opened two main service points.
A security post operates in Selorejo Selorejo, while a public service post serves travelers in Kanigoro Kanigoro.
Authorities encourage drivers on long trips to stop and rest at these posts when needed.
Police have also placed monitoring posts in congestion-prone areas between Garum and Selorejo, as well as along the Kademangan–Siraman route.
Holiday security also covers tourism destinations expected to attract large crowds.
Among them are Kampung Coklat Kampung Coklat, Blitar Park Blitar Park, and southern coastal attractions.
Police urged travelers to obey traffic rules and prioritize safety throughout the Eid holiday journey.
