TULUNGAGUNG – Ngabuburit at Dam Kleben has become a popular way for residents to spend the late afternoon during Ramadan. Many people gather along the riverbank to relax, fish, and wait for the call to break the fast.

As sunset approaches, the banks of the Bodeng River near Dam Kleben in Tiudan Village, Gondang District begin to fill with visitors. Locals come to pass the time before the Maghrib call to prayer, often sitting by the water or casting fishing lines into the river.

The dam area channels water from Wonorejo Reservoir, creating a steady flow along the river. The clear current and cool hillside air of Gondang offer a calm and refreshing environment for visitors.

Because of its peaceful atmosphere, Dam Kleben has become one of Tulungagung’s favorite ngabuburit spots. Visitors also appreciate that the area is open to the public without an entrance fee.

Each afternoon, the site grows lively with people enjoying the natural surroundings. A simple wooden bridge, flowing water, and rows of small coffee stalls create a relaxed gathering place for locals.

Some visitors sit quietly by the river, while others focus on fishing as they wait for their bait to attract fish.

Ahmad Eka, 25, said he often visits Dam Kleben during Ramadan afternoons. According to him, the area offers a perfect place to unwind while waiting for iftar.

“In the afternoon the atmosphere is very relaxing,” Ahmad said. “Many people come here to fish or simply sit and enjoy the view of the river.”

He added that the place also provides a short escape from daily routines.

“It’s a good place to recharge for a while. The breeze is cool and the scenery is beautiful. It’s even better when you come with friends and chat by the river,” he said.

Ahmad noted that the location has also gained popularity among local fishing enthusiasts. The steady river flow often attracts anglers looking for a good fishing spot.

“Many of my friends come here specifically to fish,” he added. “They usually wait here until it’s time to break the fast.”

Small coffee stalls around the dam add to the lively atmosphere. Visitors can buy snacks such as fried bananas and tempe mendoan, along with warm drinks when the Maghrib call to prayer arrives.

With easy access, natural scenery, and free entry, Dam Kleben has grown into a modest yet appealing nature destination in Tulungagung. The area now serves not only as a fishing spot but also as a relaxing space for residents to enjoy the Ramadan evening.
