BLITAR – The Garuda Pioneer Bridge project in Bendosewu village, Talun district, is entering a decisive phase as Indonesian Army engineers and local residents install the bridge’s main steel frame. The community-led infrastructure initiative aims to strengthen rural connectivity in Blitar, East Java.
The installation of wide flange (WF) steel beams marks a critical milestone in the bridge’s construction. Chosen for their high load-bearing capacity and long-term durability, the beams will form the primary structural backbone before finishing works begin.
Soldiers worked side by side with villagers throughout the process, reflecting what officials described as strong civil–military cooperation in rural development.
“Synergy and mutual cooperation are key to ensuring smooth progress and demonstrate the Army’s close partnership with the people in supporting village infrastructure,” said Major Cke Supriono, liaison officer at District Military Command 0808/Blitar.
He added that installing the WF steel structure is essential to guarantee the bridge’s strength and stability. Despite the relatively short construction timeframe typical of pioneer bridges, quality and safety standards remain the top priority, he said.
Once completed, the Garuda Pioneer Bridge is expected to significantly improve access between settlements in Bendosewu and neighboring areas. Local authorities believe the crossing will ease mobility, support economic activity, and enhance social interaction across the rural community.
