RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – Authorities demolished an illegal stall over a drainage channel beside SMAN 1 Campurdarat in Tulungagung on Wednesday (Feb. 18). The structure stood on the west side of the school area. Officers acted after a multi-agency coordination meeting confirmed violations.

Officials identified the stall as property of a Ngentrong village officer. Because the building sat directly above the drainage line, it obstructed water flow. As a result, officials warned it could trigger environmental issues, especially during the rainy season.

Danang Febriantoro, head of bylaw enforcement at Tulungagung’s public order agency, said officers followed all legal stages. First, they required the owner to sign a compliance statement. Next, they issued Warning Letters I, II, and III. Therefore, the demolition followed due process rather than sudden action.

Moreover, public order officers worked with the public works and spatial planning office, the regional finance and asset agency, and the legal bureau. District officials and road maintenance units also joined the field operation. The owner watched the demolition, while officers transported debris and returned it.

Authorities stressed that the illegal stall demolition in Tulungagung restores drainage function. Clearing the channel allows easier cleaning and maintenance. Consequently, water can flow normally without causing pooling. “Drainage must stay free of illegal structures so flow remains smooth. This protects public interest,” Danang said.
