TRENGGALEK – Authorities in Trenggalek ramp check preparations have begun as local officials step up efforts to ensure safe travel during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr homecoming season.

The Trenggalek Regency Government, through the Housing, Settlement, and Transportation Agency (Disperkimhub), has launched several measures to support smoother Eid holiday travel. These preparations include a free return travel program and vehicle safety inspections known as ramp checks.

Budi Supriyanto, Head of Transport and Safety at Disperkimhub Trenggalek, said the region received a special allocation this year for the free return trip program for travelers.

“This year, Trenggalek received an allocation for 200 motorcycles under the free return program,” Budi said.

Authorities will also deploy nine buses to transport passengers from Surabaya to Trenggalek. Officials plan to depart the buses on March 19.

In addition to the inbound travel program, the local government will prepare buses for the return flow after Eid. These buses will carry travelers from Trenggalek to their destination cities once the holiday ends.

Officials plan to operate seven buses for the return trips. Disperkimhub Trenggalek will provide five units, while two additional buses will come from other government agencies.

To strengthen travel safety, the agency will conduct ramp checks on passenger vehicles before the peak Eid travel period.

Officials will carry out the inspections together with the Trenggalek Police and other related institutions. The checks aim to confirm that vehicles meet technical safety standards and remain roadworthy.

“We plan to conduct the ramp check on March 15 or 16. The inspection will focus on vehicle condition and crew readiness,” Budi said.

According to Budi, authorities will continue inspecting vehicles periodically throughout the Eid transportation period. These measures aim to reduce the risk of accidents during one of Indonesia’s busiest travel seasons.

He also urged travelers to follow traffic regulations and use rest areas during long journeys.

“We hope this year’s Eid homecoming will run safely, comfortably, and smoothly for everyone,” he said.
