RADAR TULUNGAGUNGDPRD Ponorogo secured a provincial award for its JDIH transparency and digital legal information services, marking a major achievement in Indonesia’s push for open and accessible governance. The recognition highlights how regional institutions increasingly use digital platforms to improve public access to laws and regulations.

Khofifah Indar Parawansa handed the award to DPRD Ponorogo during the National Awakening Day ceremony at the State Building Grahadi in Surabaya. The institution ranked among the top regional legislative bodies in East Java for legal information services and digital transformation.

The achievement reflects rising public demand for transparent legal information in Indonesia. Through the JDIH platform, residents can now access regional regulations, legal archives, and other legislative documents online without visiting government offices.

JDIH Platform Expands Legal Information Access

Officials said the JDIH system has become a key tool for strengthening openness in regional governance. The online platform allows residents in Ponorogo Regency to search for local regulations and legal documentation quickly and efficiently.

The provincial assessment team praised DPRD Ponorogo for integrating transparency with digital innovation. Evaluators also considered several local regulations initiated by the legislative council during the judging process.

One of the highlighted regulations supports non-formal Islamic education through madrasah diniyah and pesantren institutions. The bylaw follows Indonesia’s Pesantren Law and aims to strengthen local education systems while providing legal certainty for religious learning centers.

Officials said the regulation directly supports community-based education and expands government facilitation for Islamic boarding schools in the region.

Regional Regulations Focus on SMEs and Food Security

Another regulation that contributed to the award evaluation was Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2025 concerning the management and empowerment of micro and small traders, including street vendors and UMKM operators.

According to DPRD representatives, the regulation goes beyond basic oversight by introducing empowerment measures such as business coaching, financial assistance programs, and access to lending support for small entrepreneurs.

“We do not only regulate small traders and UMKM activities, but also empower them through assistance programs, financing access, and mentoring,” a DPRD Ponorogo representative said during a statement following the award ceremony.

The council also emphasized preparations for a new regional regulation on food security, which authorities said would support broader community welfare programs in the regency.

The combination of legal transparency, economic empowerment initiatives, and digital governance innovation helped strengthen Ponorogo’s standing during the provincial assessment process.

East Java Pushes Regional Transparency and Digital Governance

The recognition comes as regional administrations across East Java increasingly adopt digital governance systems to improve public services and institutional accountability.

Officials involved in the assessment noted that transparency in legal documentation has become a major benchmark for evaluating regional government performance. The ability to provide easy public access to regulations and policy updates is also considered essential for strengthening public trust.

They said the evaluation covered several aspects, including openness in regional regulations, public legal services, and the implementation of digital transformation strategies.

The award is expected to encourage further improvements in legal information services and online accessibility in Ponorogo. Local officials also pledged to continue developing digital platforms that allow residents to obtain accurate legal information quickly and transparently.

The recognition reinforces the growing importance of JDIH transparency initiatives in Indonesia as regional governments face increasing public expectations for accountability, accessibility, and digital innovation in governance.
