JAKARTA – Lombok’s hidden beaches are attracting a growing number of travelers in 2026 as tourists search for quieter tropical destinations offering dramatic cliffs, white sand coastlines, and authentic island experiences beyond Bali’s busy tourism scene.
Travel communities across Indonesia have increasingly highlighted East Lombok for its untouched landscapes and natural beauty. Beaches such as Pink Beach, Tanjung Beloam, and Kaliantan are now emerging as some of the country’s most visually stunning coastal destinations.
The region combines scenic coastal views with outdoor adventure activities, making it especially appealing to younger travelers and photography enthusiasts.
Pink Beach and Gili Kondo Dominate Social Media
Pantai Tangsi, commonly called Pink Beach Lombok, remains one of the island’s most recognizable attractions. Its pink-colored sand has become a major draw for both domestic and international visitors.
The beach’s color comes from fragments of red coral blending naturally with white sand along the shoreline. Combined with clear turquoise water, the result creates a landscape that many travelers describe as surreal.
Access to the destination remains relatively difficult, but tourism observers say that exclusivity has only increased public curiosity.
Nearby hills also provide elevated viewpoints overlooking the coast, making the location highly popular for drone photography and cinematic travel content.
Gili Kondo, another emerging attraction, offers visitors a small tropical island experience with calm water and vibrant marine life. Travelers frequently visit the island for snorkeling, diving, and island-hopping activities.
The island becomes particularly unique during high tide when parts of the sand disappear beneath the water.
Adventure Tourism Expands Across East Lombok
Tanjung Ringgit has become known for its dramatic cliff formations overlooking the ocean. The destination remains relatively undeveloped, allowing visitors to experience East Lombok’s coastline in a more natural state.
Photographers often visit during sunrise and sunset to capture the cliffs against changing ocean colors. Some tourists also explore nearby caves that are inhabited by bats.
Pantai Kaliantan offers a more peaceful atmosphere with its long coastline and surrounding green hills. The beach has become increasingly popular among kite surfers because of favorable wind conditions and wide open coastal areas.
Tourism communities say the area still receives far fewer visitors than mainstream destinations, helping preserve its calm atmosphere.
Tanjung Beloam Gains Viral Popularity
Tanjung Beloam has recently emerged as one of Lombok’s fastest-growing tourism icons thanks to viral social media videos featuring its dramatic stone cliffs and panoramic sea views.
The rocky coastline extends into the ocean, forming a natural bridge-like structure surrounded by powerful waves. At the end of the formation stands a cone-shaped hill covered in green vegetation.
Although the route to the beach remains rough and challenging, travelers continue making the journey because of the destination’s unique scenery.
Local tourism activists are now encouraging environmentally responsible tourism development to protect East Lombok’s fragile coastal ecosystem.
With international tourism trends shifting toward eco-tourism and outdoor adventure experiences, Lombok’s exotic beaches are increasingly positioned as one of Indonesia’s most promising travel regions outside Bali.
