TULUNGAGUNG – Eid shopping in Tulungagung has started to increase as the last ten days of Ramadan approach. Residents have begun buying festive essentials such as canned biscuits, syrup, and other household supplies.

Shopping activity has become more noticeable at several retail centers across the city. At one shopping complex on Mayor Sujadi Street, long lines appeared at the cashier area around 2 p.m. local time.

At certain moments, the queue stretched into nearby aisles. The line even reached the perfume section as customers waited to complete their purchases.

One shopper, Fahma from Kedungwaru District, said she deliberately chose to shop earlier. She wanted to avoid the heavy crowds that usually appear closer to Eid al-Fitr.

“The situation is already quite busy. Earlier I had to take turns with other buyers when picking biscuits from the shelf,” she said.

Fahma added that she preferred shopping now because many products were still available. Some items also came with promotional prices.

“I came early while there are still many brands to choose from and some promotions available,” she explained.

The rising shopping activity also benefits small business owners who buy goods in bulk. Some traders visit supermarkets to restock products for resale in neighborhood shops.

Wawan, a home-based shop owner, bought several cartons of syrup and canned cookies during the visit.

“I’m stocking goods for my small shop. If there are promotions on syrup or canned cookies, I usually buy more,” he said.

He explained that buying during promotions allows him to gain a small price margin when selling the products later.

Despite the growing number of shoppers, store operations remain relatively orderly. Staff continue to manage customer flow so shopping activities stay comfortable.

Many residents who shop earlier hope they can secure their Eid holiday supplies before the peak shopping rush. The busiest period usually occurs about three days before Eid.
