JAKARTA – Lombok’s exotic coastline is drawing renewed international attention in 2026 as hidden beaches in East Lombok, including Pink Beach, Tanjung Beloam, and Gili Kondo, gain viral popularity among travelers searching for quieter alternatives to Bali’s crowded tourism hotspots.

The surge in tourism interest comes as Indonesian domestic tourism continues expanding beyond mainstream destinations. Travel creators and tourism channels have increasingly highlighted East Lombok for its untouched beaches, dramatic cliffs, and crystal-clear waters that remain relatively undiscovered compared to more commercial islands.

Many of the region’s attractions are located far from urban centers, offering travelers a more isolated and authentic tropical experience.

Pink Beach Becomes One of Lombok’s Biggest Attractions

Pantai Tangsi, internationally recognized as Pink Beach Lombok, has become one of the island’s most iconic destinations due to its naturally pink-colored shoreline. The beach’s unusual appearance is caused by crushed red coral fragments mixing with white sand along the coast.

Tourists visiting the beach are greeted by turquoise water, quiet surroundings, and scenic hills that frame the coastline. Unlike crowded beach destinations in Southeast Asia, Pink Beach remains relatively peaceful because access to the location still requires a long overland journey.

Travel experts say the exclusivity created by its remote location has actually increased the beach’s appeal among younger travelers and photography enthusiasts.

Beyond sightseeing, visitors often spend time snorkeling, swimming, and hiking nearby hills for panoramic coastal views. Drone photography has also become increasingly popular in the area because of the beach’s striking natural color contrast.

Local tourism operators continue encouraging sustainable tourism practices to preserve the fragile marine ecosystem surrounding the beach.

Gili Kondo and Tanjung Ringgit Offer Untouched Coastal Scenery

Another destination gaining popularity is Gili Kondo, a small tropical island located in the Alas Strait between Lombok and Sumbawa. The island is known for its soft white sand, shallow waters, and thriving underwater ecosystem ideal for snorkeling and diving.

One unique characteristic of Gili Kondo is how parts of the island nearly disappear during high tide, creating a changing landscape throughout the day. Travelers often explore nearby small islands by renting local fishing boats.

Marine tourism remains the area’s main attraction. Coral reefs around the island are still considered relatively healthy, making the site increasingly attractive to divers and underwater photographers.

Meanwhile, Tanjung Ringgit has emerged as a favorite location for travelers looking for dramatic cliffside scenery. Massive rock cliffs stand above deep blue ocean waters, creating one of the most visually striking coastal landscapes in East Lombok.

The destination also features hidden caves inhabited by bats, adding another layer of adventure for visitors exploring the region.

Tourism observers note that travelers are increasingly seeking destinations that combine scenic photography opportunities with outdoor adventure activities. East Lombok’s rugged coastline fits that trend perfectly.

Remote Beaches Attract Adventure Travelers

Pantai Kaliantan has also started attracting more visitors due to its long white-sand shoreline and quiet atmosphere. Stretching nearly two kilometers, the beach offers wide open coastal views surrounded by green vegetation.

Unlike many popular beaches across Indonesia, Kaliantan remains largely undeveloped, allowing tourists to enjoy a more natural environment without heavy commercial activity.

The beach has become especially popular among kite surfers because of strong coastal winds and open sea conditions. International travelers visiting Lombok for surfing and marine tourism have increasingly included Kaliantan in their itineraries.

At the same time, Tanjung Beloam is quickly becoming a social media phenomenon. Despite difficult road access, tourists continue traveling to the destination because of its dramatic rock formations and panoramic ocean scenery.

The coastline features large cliffs extending into the sea, forming what many visitors describe as a natural stone bridge. At the end of the rocky formation stands a cone-shaped green hill that has become one of Lombok’s most photographed landscapes.

Tourism communities in Lombok believe the growing popularity of these hidden destinations could strengthen the island’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading sustainable tourism regions.

However, local guides continue reminding visitors to prioritize safety because several beaches in East Lombok are known for strong waves and steep cliff edges.

With increasing global demand for nature-based tourism, Lombok’s hidden coastal destinations appear set to become some of Southeast Asia’s most desirable tropical escapes in the coming years.
