TRENGGALEK – The construction of the School Rakyat project in Trenggalek is moving faster after early delays slowed the initial phase of development. Contractors are now racing to complete the project before the June 2026 deadline set by the government. As of May 7, 2026, overall progress had only reached 46.20 percent.
Project Manager Muhammad Fajri Ramadhan said the contractor remains optimistic despite the large amount of work still unfinished. According to him, nearly half of the construction process still needs completion before the project can fully operate.
“As of May 7, 2026, construction progress reached 46.20 percent. We are optimistic the project can finish by June 20, 2026,” Fajri said.
To accelerate development, the contractor has continued adding more workers at the construction site. Around 689 workers currently support the project, and the number could increase to nearly 1,000 people in the coming weeks. Contractors also plan to divide workers into two shifts to maximize construction activity.
Fajri explained that the project initially faced obstacles because the construction area previously functioned as rice fields. Before major construction work could begin, contractors had to stabilize the land with around 100,000 cubic meters of soil. The difficult land condition caused the project to start later than similar developments in other regions.
Despite the delays, construction activity increased significantly after the 2026 Eid holiday period ended. Most structural work has nearly finished, while current efforts now focus on architectural and finishing stages. Contractors believe the accelerated work system can help recover lost time from earlier setbacks.
The School Rakyat complex stands on around 5.8 hectares of land and will provide facilities from elementary to senior high school levels. The project will also include dormitories designed for students from underprivileged families. Overall, the education complex will accommodate around 1,080 students in 36 study groups.
The Trenggalek project forms part of the East Java 4 School Rakyat package worth Rp 1.2 trillion. The Trenggalek allocation alone reached around Rp 225 billion. The development has also created jobs for local residents, with around 100 local workers involved in construction activities.
