RADAR TRENGGALEK – Coban Rambat nature tourism in Trenggalek is regaining attention after years of abandonment, as the restored site reemerges as a quiet outdoor getaway for residents seeking cool mountain air and scenic landscapes.

Located in Bendungan District, the waterfall area had once been a popular destination for both local and visiting tourists. However, interest declined over time as newer attractions appeared, leaving the site neglected and largely forgotten.

“It used to be crowded, then gradually became unmanaged because fewer people came,” said local resident Andi S.

In recent months, the area has been reorganized to revive its function as an open-air nature tourism site. Local authorities reportedly led the rehabilitation effort with support from external partners, according to residents.

“As far as I know, the local government renovated it with help from a third party, but I don’t know the details,” Andi said.

The refreshed site now offers river views, a waterfall setting, and designated camping areas with basic facilities. Visitors mainly come to relax, enjoy the scenery, and spend time outdoors.

Beyond general tourism, Coban Rambat has begun attracting residents looking to unwind in the late afternoon, including during the fasting month. The calm atmosphere and cool climate provide a natural retreat from daily routines.

Visitors often spend time sitting by the river or exploring the surrounding greenery while waiting for sunset.

Residents hope the renewed Coban Rambat site will regain its former popularity. The area now offers more than natural beauty, combining scenic views with recreational facilities.

“We hope it becomes lively again like when it first opened,” Andi said.
