TULUNGAGUNG – The appointment of Tri Hariadi as Acting Regional Secretary in Tulungagung has gained strong political backing, with lawmakers endorsing the move to stabilize local governance.

Widodo Prasetyo, a member of the Gerindra faction in the Tulungagung Regional House of Representatives, said Acting Regent Ahmad Baharudin made the right decision. He described Tri Hariadi as a seasoned and professional bureaucrat with proven loyalty. “For me personally, this is the right decision,” he said.

Baharudin also emphasized that Tri Hariadi’s extensive experience in public administration played a key role in the decision. He said strong expertise is crucial to keep the government running effectively. “He has mature experience, which is important to support effective governance,” Baharudin stated.

Officials submitted the proposal to the East Java governor on April 30, 2026, and secured approval on May 3. They then proceeded with the inauguration shortly after. Authorities said they followed all required procedures in line with regulations.

The move comes as Tulungagung’s administration navigates a period of transition following recent political and legal developments. In this context, Baharudin stressed the need for a figure who can maintain bureaucratic stability and coordination across departments.

Tri Hariadi is expected to lead internal consolidation among regional agencies to ensure continuity in governance. However, his position remains temporary, with a three-month term subject to performance evaluation. “We will assess his performance. Everything remains dynamic,” Baharudin said.

Responding to his appointment, Tri Hariadi said he is ready to take on the responsibility. He will focus on sustaining development programs and maintaining public services. “We will follow leadership directives and ensure development and public services run smoothly,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of cross-agency coordination to keep programs aligned with plans and regulations. According to him, strong synergy among regional departments will help maintain the pace of development.

Tri Hariadi’s return to a strategic role forms part of a broader bureaucratic consolidation effort. He previously served as regional secretary before moving to lead the local manpower and transmigration office.
