TULUNGAGUNG – Operation Ketupat 2026 officially started in Tulungagung as local authorities prepared joint security forces for the Eid homecoming season.
Gatut Sunu Wibowo led the security roll call on Thursday. Officials used the event to check personnel readiness, field equipment, and inter-agency coordination before holiday traffic intensifies.
The ceremony also gathered regional leaders, including Ahmad Baharudin, police officers, military commanders, prosecutors, lawmakers, and local government staff. Joint personnel from several institutions lined up during the inspection.
Gatut said the operation reflects a shared commitment to keep Eid travel safe, orderly, and comfortable for the public.
“This roll call shows our collective commitment to ensure security readiness so Eid travel and celebrations can run safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” he said.
Nationwide, Operation Ketupat 2026 will run for 13 days, from March 13 to March 25. The program involves 161,243 personnel from Indonesian National Police, the military, and related agencies.
Government estimates show public movement during Eid may reach 143.9 million trips this year. Authorities expect the first travel peak on March 14-15 and March 18-19.
They predict return traffic will peak on March 24-25 and again on March 28-29. Police have prepared 2,746 service posts across Indonesia.
Those posts include 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts. Each location will provide public information, traffic support, and emergency help.
Security monitoring also covers more than 185,000 public sites. These include mosques, Eid prayer areas, tourist spots, shopping centers, terminals, ports, train stations, and airports.
Gatut asked officers to anticipate theft, illegal racing, street crime, and possible local conflict during the holiday period.
He also told officers to record empty homes left by travelers. Police stations will also continue vehicle storage services for residents.
During the same event, Gatut gave an award to Ihram Kustarto and the Tulungagung Police team for exposing a subsidized LPG abuse case.
He said the case showed strong police commitment to protecting public rights and regional stability.
