TULUNGAGUNG – The Tulungagung administration has started marking land boundaries for the planned Sekolah Rakyat, or People’s School, project in Ringinpitu Village, Kedungwaru District.
Officials carried out the survey on Monday near the Ringinpitu low-cost apartment complex, known locally as Rusunawa Ringinpitu. Officers from the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) marked several points with spray paint.
The markings aim to clarify borders between government-owned land and village assets. Authorities said the site once belonged to Jepun Village treasury land. The Tulungagung administration now records the area as an official regional asset.
During the inspection, officers found several residential buildings extending into government-owned land. Survey teams marked the overlapping sections after checking measurements and land certificates.
Galih Risul Hatta, head of regional asset security and utilization at BPKAD Tulungagung, said the process forms an early stage of the Sekolah Rakyat project.
“This boundary confirmation matches the official government asset certificates so the project can move forward without obstacles,” Galih said.
The People’s School program requires certified land ownership before construction begins. Local authorities therefore want clear legal boundaries before starting development work.
Galih confirmed that several parts of residents’ buildings crossed into government-owned land. Officers identified the overlaps after reviewing field measurements and official documents.
“We found several building sections belonging to residents that extend into regional government assets,” he said.
The Tulungagung administration said officials based the land adjustment process on legal asset records owned by the regional government.
Authorities also said residents whose buildings overlap with the project site must handle the demolition process independently. The requirement will take effect after officials issue the formal site determination decree.
Earlier, the local government held outreach sessions with affected residents at the Ringinpitu Village Hall. Officials explained the Sekolah Rakyat development plan during the meeting.
Authorities also discussed the land boundary adjustments with local residents. Officials hope the early socialization process will reduce future disputes during construction.
Galih said authorities will ask affected residents to dismantle overlapping structures after the government approves the project location.
The People’s School project forms part of broader efforts to improve public education facilities in Tulungagung. The government also wants to expand access to state-supported learning infrastructure across the region.
