RADAR BLITAR – A Blitar truck crash damaged a village home after a brick-laden vehicle lost its brakes and plunged into a house in southern Blitar, East Java, on Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. in Krajan hamlet, Tambakrejo village, Wonotirto district. The truck was traveling from north to south. However, it suddenly lost braking power, veered off the road, and struck a house below road level.
Tambakrejo village secretary Sukimin confirmed the incident. He said the truck hit the home of resident Sukiman.
“The truck carried concrete bricks. It came from the north, lost its brakes, swerved right, and crashed into a resident’s house,” he said.
Fortunately, no one inside the house suffered injuries. At the time, occupant Mujina was cooking in the rear kitchen. Meanwhile, other family members were away.
Police identified the vehicle as a yellow Mitsubishi truck with license plate S 9303 UX. AN, a resident of Dawuhan village in Kademangan district, drove the vehicle.
Blitar Police spokesperson Syaiful Muheni said the driver lost control after brake failure and hit the house. Three people were inside the cab.
The driver suffered a minor fracture in his left arm and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Solo. However, the two passengers escaped unharmed.
The crash severely damaged the truck’s front section. Additionally, the impact destroyed the house’s living room and front bedroom. Authorities estimated losses at about Rp 60 million (around $3,700).
Local police handled the case with traffic investigators. Meanwhile, both parties agreed to settle the matter through family mediation instead of legal action.
“The case has been handled and resolved through family mediation,” Muheni said.
