BLITAR – The Blitar CCTV surveillance system has evolved beyond traffic monitoring and now plays a crucial role in supporting criminal investigations across Blitar Regency.
Authorities have installed surveillance cameras at several strategic intersections and major roads. These cameras continuously record activity and help officials monitor public safety.
Farid Pandu Pradana said the technology has become an essential tool for both traffic management and law enforcement.
“Today, the function of CCTV is very dynamic. Besides managing traffic and monitoring congestion, the cameras help police identify traffic accidents and uncover street crimes,” he said.
The surveillance network operates under the management of the local transportation agency in cooperation with the police. The system runs for 24 hours and records visual data from various road locations.
According to Farid, strong coordination exists between the transportation agency and both Blitar Police and Blitar City Police.
Investigators frequently request access to specific footage when incidents occur on the roads.
“This collaboration works very effectively. When an incident happens, police coordinate with us to open recordings at certain times,” Farid explained.
He added that high-resolution cameras help officers identify vehicle license plates and recognize physical characteristics of suspects involved in crimes.
Beyond investigation, the CCTV system also acts as a preventive measure. Drivers and pedestrians tend to behave more responsibly when they know the area is under constant surveillance.
Local authorities therefore see the digital monitoring network as an important tool for improving road safety and maintaining public order.
Looking ahead, officials plan to continue maintaining and expanding surveillance points throughout the regency. The goal is to eliminate blind spots along major roads and ensure broader monitoring coverage.
By strengthening the Blitar CCTV surveillance network, authorities hope to provide safer and more secure road conditions for residents and travelers across the region.
