RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – The mystery surrounding the Ancient Majapahit Cave in Mojokerto has once again captured public attention after a YouTube exploration revealed hidden ritual chambers, sacred springs, and stories about mystical connections to the South Sea Queen. Located in the Sendi area of Pacet, Mojokerto, East Java, the ancient cave sits beneath a busy roadway and is believed to date back to the era of the Majapahit Kingdom.

The site has long attracted spiritual visitors, pilgrims, and curious explorers from various regions in Indonesia. During the exploration, the host and local caretaker entered the underground cave system through a narrow entrance guarded by sacred symbols and ritual offerings. Before entering, visitors were instructed to burn incense and ask permission according to local tradition.

The caretaker explained that the Ancient Majapahit Cave consists of three underground levels stretching approximately 350 meters beneath the road. The cave reportedly contains at least 11 ritual chambers used by visitors for meditation, prayer, and spiritual retreats.

Some visitors reportedly spend days meditating inside the cave while surviving only on water and simple dried rice meals. The cave’s cool temperature and natural airflow allow people to remain underground for extended periods.

The caretaker also revealed that many spiritual practitioners visit the location on Friday nights and other sacred days. He said the cave welcomes everyone regardless of religion, as long as visitors respect the site and avoid destructive behavior.

Several sections of the cave contained incense smoke, ritual flowers, and offerings left by pilgrims seeking blessings, safety, career advancement, or personal healing.

The red-colored cave walls also sparked curiosity among visitors. Local stories say ancient blacksmiths once used the cave to forge sacred heirlooms and mystical weapons during the Singosari and Majapahit eras.

The Legend of Mbah Ronggo

One of the most talked-about figures connected to the Ancient Majapahit Cave is a spiritual guardian known as Mbah Ronggo. The caretaker described him as a tall elder dressed in white robes and a turban with long hair and a beard.

Local belief says Mbah Ronggo sometimes appears in different forms, including as a yellow-chested bat seen inside the cave tunnels.

The caretaker claimed visitors with sincere intentions usually feel welcomed inside the cave. However, people who arrive with negative motives allegedly encounter frightening experiences, including sightings of giant snakes guarding the entrance.

He also shared stories about visitors from outside Java, including foreign travelers and military escorts who once explored the cave searching for unusual stones and spiritual experiences.

Although nobody can scientifically verify many of the stories, the legends continue to attract attention online and strengthen the cave’s reputation as one of East Java’s most mysterious spiritual destinations.

Sacred Water and South Sea Queen Connection

One of the cave’s most sacred spots is a natural spring located deep underground. Water continuously drips from the cave ceiling into a small basin that many visitors believe carries spiritual energy.

The caretaker claimed many people request the water for healing, matchmaking, and other personal purposes. He said the spring never dries up, even during the dry season.

The most controversial story involves a mystical pathway that allegedly connects the Ancient Majapahit Cave to the South Coast and the legendary Queen of the Southern Sea, often linked to Kanjeng Ratu Kidul.

Growing Interest in East Java Mystical Tourism

The exploration video sparked discussions among netizens fascinated by Indonesia’s ancient caves and mystical heritage.

Many viewers expressed curiosity about the underground structure, while others focused on the spiritual rituals and stories surrounding the cave guardians.

Despite the mystical reputation, the caretaker emphasized that visitors can come freely as long as they respect local customs and maintain proper behavior inside the sacred site.

The Ancient Majapahit Cave in Mojokerto now stands as both a historical mystery and a unique spiritual tourism destination that continues to attract explorers searching for untold stories hidden beneath East Java.
