TRENGGALEK – SPMB registration server outage disrupted the first day of junior high school admissions in Trenggalek on Thursday, slowing the enrollment process for dozens of prospective students despite strong public interest in the annual registration program.

The Student Admission System, known locally as SPMB, officially opened for state junior high schools across Trenggalek Regency. Schools immediately saw a steady flow of applicants arriving to begin the registration process.

One of the busiest locations was SMPN 3 Trenggalek, where prospective students and parents came early in the morning to secure registration numbers. School officials reported high enthusiasm among applicants as the admission period began.

However, technical issues soon affected the registration process. According to SPMB committee member Ririn Wijayanti, the server used for the admissions system experienced a temporary outage on the first day.

The disruption lasted for approximately two hours and caused errors within the online registration platform. As a result, school staff could not process applications at their normal pace during the affected period.

“Today there was a server issue. The system was down for around two hours,” Ririn said.

Despite the technical setback, administrators managed to resume services once the system returned to normal operation. Staff then continued assisting students who had already arrived at the school.

Under normal circumstances, SMPN 3 Trenggalek expects to process between 60 and 70 applicants in a single day. The server outage significantly reduced that number and slowed overall service delivery.

Ririn explained that only about half of the expected applicants completed the registration process on the opening day. School records showed that officials successfully served 35 students after the system became operational again.

The incident created delays for several applicants who had already obtained registration numbers but could not complete all required procedures before the service hours ended.

School officials assured parents and students that the disruption would not affect their eligibility to participate in the admission process. The committee has arranged follow-up services for applicants who encountered difficulties because of the outage.

Administrators have advised affected students to return according to the revised schedule. Staff members will continue processing pending registrations to ensure every applicant receives the necessary assistance.

The response aims to prevent students from losing opportunities due to technical problems beyond their control. Officials also emphasized that all eligible applicants will remain accommodated during the admission period.

As enrollment activities continue, schools across Trenggalek hope the registration system will operate smoothly in the coming days. Education administrators expect the remaining stages of the SPMB process to proceed without further disruption as thousands of students seek placement in state junior high schools.
