JAKARTA – East Lombok’s viral beaches are rapidly gaining attention among domestic and international travelers as hidden coastal destinations such as Pink Beach, Gili Kondo, and Tanjung Ringgit offer dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and untouched natural scenery far from Indonesia’s overcrowded tourist hubs.

The growing popularity of East Lombok comes as travelers increasingly seek quieter tropical escapes with authentic landscapes and outdoor adventure experiences. A recent travel feature highlighted five of the region’s most exotic beaches, many of which remain relatively undeveloped despite their striking beauty.

Located between Lombok and neighboring Sumbawa, the coastal region combines white sand islands, towering limestone cliffs, and turquoise waters that appeal to photographers, divers, and adventure tourists alike.

Gili Kondo and Pink Beach Lead Tourism Interest

One of the most talked-about destinations is Gili Kondo, a small island located in the Alas Strait. The island has become popular for its soft white sand, shallow clear waters, and rich marine biodiversity ideal for snorkeling and diving.

Travelers visiting the island can also explore nearby smaller islets by boat. During high tide, parts of the island nearly disappear beneath the sea, creating a unique visual phenomenon that has attracted drone photographers and travel creators on social media.

Marine tourism remains one of the island’s biggest attractions. Visitors commonly spend their time snorkeling, diving, or simply relaxing on the untouched shoreline. The underwater ecosystem is considered relatively well-preserved compared to more commercial destinations across Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Pantai Tangsi — widely known as Pink Beach Lombok — continues to attract tourists due to its rare pink-colored sand. The unusual color is created by a natural mixture of white sand and fragments of red coral.

The contrast between the pink shoreline and blue-green ocean has turned the beach into one of Lombok’s most photographed tourism sites.

Despite its beauty, access to Pantai Tangsi remains challenging. The beach is located in a remote area with limited infrastructure, forcing visitors to prepare carefully before arriving. However, many travelers consider the difficult journey worthwhile because of the pristine scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

Several surrounding hills also offer panoramic viewpoints overlooking the coastline.

Beyond Pink Beach, East Lombok also features several lesser-known destinations with dramatic landscapes.

Tanjung Ringgit has become increasingly popular for its towering coastal cliffs that overlook deep blue ocean waters. Unlike many crowded beaches in Indonesia, the area remains relatively untouched, allowing visitors to experience a more natural environment.

Travelers often visit the site to photograph the cliffs, explore hidden caves inhabited by bats, or enjoy the long stretches of white sand. Local guides regularly remind tourists to remain cautious while walking near the cliff edges because of the steep terrain and strong sea winds.

Another emerging destination is Pantai Kaliantan, a quiet beach with a coastline stretching nearly two kilometers. Surrounded by green vegetation and open coastal scenery, the beach offers a calmer alternative for visitors seeking relaxation.

The beach is also becoming known for water sports activities such as kite surfing. Strong coastal winds and wide open shoreline conditions make the location particularly attractive to international adventure travelers.

Tourism observers say destinations like Kaliantan reflect a broader trend in Indonesian tourism where travelers prioritize uncrowded natural locations over heavily commercialized attractions.

Tanjung Beloam Emerges as a Social Media Favorite

Among the fastest-growing viral destinations in East Lombok is Tanjung Beloam, located in the southeastern part of the regency.

Although the road infrastructure remains limited and challenging, the destination has gained popularity because of its unique rock formations and dramatic ocean views. Massive stone cliffs extend into the sea, forming what many visitors describe as a natural bridge toward the horizon.

At the tip of the rocky coastline stands a cone-shaped hill covered in green vegetation, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding blue ocean.

Travel videos and aerial drone footage shared online have significantly increased awareness of the destination throughout 2025 and early 2026. Many travelers now consider Tanjung Beloam one of Lombok’s most photogenic coastal locations.

However, local tourism communities continue urging visitors to remain careful because the beach is known for strong waves and unpredictable currents.

As Indonesia continues promoting sustainable tourism outside Bali, East Lombok’s exotic beaches are increasingly viewed as one of the country’s next major travel hotspots. With untouched coastlines, unique geological formations, and quieter surroundings, the region is steadily building a reputation as a hidden paradise for travelers seeking nature and adventure.
