TULUNGAGUNG – DPRD Tulungagung LKPj 2025 took center stage as lawmakers raised concerns over infrastructure, healthcare, and education during a plenary session on Monday (May 4). The council urged the local government to align policies more closely with real public needs, especially amid National Education Day and Labor Day momentum.

The session, held at Graha Wicaksana Hall, focused on delivering official recommendations on the Regent’s 2025 Accountability Report (LKPj). DPRD Speaker Marsono said future development must respond more directly to on-the-ground challenges.

He stressed that infrastructure remains a major concern. The council called for consistent construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and drainage systems to ensure long-term benefits.

“Development must not stop at short-term projects without clear maintenance plans,” Marsono said.

Lawmakers also pushed for stronger public participation in protecting public facilities. They proposed installing CCTV in strategic areas to improve monitoring. In addition, they urged the government to address ongoing complaints about inadequate street lighting (PJU).

“We need more effective solutions for public lighting issues raised by residents,” he added.

On regional finances, DPRD highlighted the need to evaluate excess budget balances (SiLPA). The council called for more precise, transparent, and accountable budget planning to prevent underutilized funds from accumulating.

In the public service sector, lawmakers focused heavily on healthcare. They urged the administration to improve service quality, including facilities and medicine availability. The council also pushed for universal health coverage (UHC) to become a priority in order to expand equitable access.

“UHC must remain a key target so all residents can access proper healthcare,” the PDI-P politician said.

In education, DPRD emphasized the importance of managing teaching staff more effectively. Lawmakers pointed to the PPPK scheme and teacher welfare improvements as key factors in strengthening education quality.

The council also highlighted the need to boost the local economy. It called for better regional connectivity to support agricultural distribution and tourism growth. Support for small and medium enterprises (UMKM), including financing access and market protection, also ranked high on the agenda.

Beyond maintaining current achievements, DPRD urged the government to explore new revenue sources. It also stressed inclusive development, including better accessibility for people with disabilities.

Marsono said healthcare, infrastructure, and education remain top priorities. He added that every policy must rest on clear regulatory frameworks.

“We will coordinate with provincial and national authorities to ensure policies follow regulations and deliver real impact,” he said.

Acting Regent Ahmad Baharudin welcomed the recommendations, calling them a sign of strong legislative-executive synergy. He said the administration will use the input to refine future programs.

“These recommendations will guide us in making development more targeted and beneficial for the public,” he said.
