BLITAR – Police in Sanankulon district have intensified mosque security to prevent motorcycle theft during Tarawih prayers, as large evening congregations gather throughout Ramadan.
Sanankulon Police have deployed officers to monitor parking areas and mosque surroundings during nightly prayers. The move aims to maintain public safety and ensure worshippers can pray without fear of vehicle theft.
“Security during Tarawih is part of our service to the community so people can worship calmly and without worry,” said Rudi Sujarwo, head of the Samapta unit at Sanankulon Police.
Officers also brief mosque administrators and congregants on crime prevention. Police urge worshippers to lock motorcycles securely and park in visible, supervised areas.
Sanankulon Police Chief Nurbudi Santosa said he has instructed all personnel to monitor Tarawih prayers across their assigned neighborhoods throughout Ramadan. The patrols aim to deter crime and reinforce police presence during religious activities.
“Police presence at religious events is not only about security but also about strengthening community ties,” Nurbudi said.
Authorities say the increased monitoring will continue for the duration of Ramadan, when motorcycle theft typically rises in crowded public spaces, including mosque parking areas.
