RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – Sambirobyong-Pulotondo road repair project in Tulungagung has begun immediately after a recent inspection by Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

Heavy equipment and construction materials arrived just one day after the site visit. Ahmad Rifai Sodik, head of road development at the local public works agency PUPR Tulungagung, confirmed that crews started work on Sunday.

“Work has started today. Materials and machinery are already on site,” he said.

The repair covers about four kilometers linking Sambirobyong, Pulotondo, and Bukur villages. Under the contract, the project runs for four months. However, officials aim to fix the most severe damage before Eid al-Fitr.

“We follow a four-month schedule. But before the holiday, the worst sections must be finished and all potholes closed,” Sodik said.

Crews will apply a phased strategy. First, they will fill potholes with base material and asphalt patching. Workers begin this stage on Monday. After Eid, they will complete full resurfacing to ensure a smoother and more durable road.

“The priority during Ramadan is eliminating potholes. After Eid, we continue with total resurfacing,” he added.

The 4-kilometer project carries a budget of about 6 billion rupiah. The funds cover construction work, materials, and heavy equipment mobilization.

With the accelerated approach, the public works office expects holiday travel and daily mobility during Ramadan and Eid to proceed safely. Officials also expect local economic access along the corridor to recover before the project fully concludes.
