RADAR BLITAR – Blitar City Government is set to stage a PETA drama Blitar performance this Saturday evening at Taman Plaza Museum PETA. The event commemorates the historical struggle of the Pembela Tanah Air (PETA) against Japanese occupation.

Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Rike Rochmawati, said preparations have been ongoing since January 2026. Intensive rehearsals aim to ensure a theatrical performance that is both engaging and historically accurate.

“The rehearsals began in January. The performance will take place on Saturday, February 14, at Taman Plaza Museum PETA,” she said.

The drama features local artists and students from Sanggar Patrialoka. Performers will bring the spirit of PETA’s struggle to life through dramatized storytelling.

“The cast consists of both artists and students. Our goal is to involve young people in this monumental drama,” Rike added.

The show is directed by the Komite Teater Dewan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Kota Blitar. Officials hope the performance will educate the public about PETA’s history and instill a sense of patriotism among the youth.

“Through this performance, we aim for young people to better understand and appreciate PETA’s struggle, while igniting nationalism and patriotism,” Rike said.

This year’s drama carries the theme “Alap-alap Daidan PETA Blitar”, highlighting PETA Blitar’s inspiration for love of country. The event is an annual tradition on February 14, commemorating PETA’s rebellion against Japanese forces. Most performers are youth, ranging from students to university-level participants.
