RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – A new case of Tulungagung retail theft emerged after burglars raided a national retail outlet in Ngunut district and cleared out cigarette displays before dawn.

The incident took place in Kacangan Village, Ngunut, early Wednesday (February 11, 2026). Employees uncovered the break-in when they arrived to open the store for business.

According to Ngunut Police Chief Commissioner Tri Nuartiko, staff noticed irregularities at around 6:30 a.m. local time. Shortly afterward, they filed an official report with police at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Initially, employee Refina Mariyatus Zulfana arrived at 6:24 a.m. and opened the rolling door. She then headed to the cashier’s desk to clock in. Three minutes later, another staff member, Inka Putri Liana Sari, entered the store and completed her attendance.

However, Refina soon spotted cigarette packs scattered on the floor near the cashier display. When she examined the shelves more closely, she found several sections completely empty.

Recognizing clear signs of theft, the two employees immediately conducted an internal check. They then contacted authorities without delay.

In response, officers from Ngunut Police rushed to the scene and secured the premises. Investigators collected physical evidence, documented the crime scene, and interviewed witnesses.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering further witness statements,” Tri Nuartiko said. “At the same time, we continue to analyze all available evidence.”

Meanwhile, police confirmed that the suspects primarily targeted cigarette products. Authorities have not yet released the estimated financial losses.

Notably, this marks the second retail burglary in Tulungagung within a short period. Previously, thieves broke into another minimarket in Ringinpitu Village, Kedungwaru district.

Because of the repeated incidents, police now urge retail owners across Tulungagung to tighten security measures. Officers advise businesses to regularly inspect surveillance systems, ensure cameras operate properly, and conduct routine checks before and after store hours.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain focused on identifying and arresting those responsible for the latest Tulungagung retail theft.
