RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – A Tulungagung minimarket burglary has prompted a police investigation after thieves stole thousands of items from a retail store in Ringinpitu Village, Kedungwaru District.
The break-in happened early Tuesday (February 10). When employee Feri Agus Setiawan arrived at 7 a.m. to open the store, he immediately noticed something was wrong. Shelves stood in disarray, and products lay scattered across the floor.
At first, Feri suspected internal disorganization. However, after checking further, he realized the store had been burglarized.
Feri inspected the warehouse area and quickly spotted a critical loss. The CCTV DVR unit was gone. In addition, he found a large hole in the rear wall of the building.
Police believe the suspects used the hole to enter and exit the store.
“The CCTV DVR in the warehouse disappeared, and we found a hole in the rear wall that strongly indicates forced entry,” said Kedungwaru Police Chief AKP Karnoto.
The missing DVR suggests the perpetrators tried to erase evidence. Therefore, investigators suspect the burglary was carefully planned.
Shortly afterward, Feri contacted two colleagues, Chusnul Khotimah and Yeni Kurniawati. Once all employees gathered, they conducted a detailed inventory check.
The results revealed extensive losses. The thieves took conventional cigarettes, electronic cigarette pods, soft drinks, cosmetics, baby formula, medicines, and multiple biscuit brands.
In total, 2,719 items went missing, police confirmed. Although authorities have not released the estimated financial loss, the quantity alone indicates significant damage.
Moreover, the scale of the theft suggests more than one suspect participated. Carrying thousands of products would require coordination and time.
Store management quickly reported the Tulungagung minimarket burglary to Kedungwaru Police. Officers immediately secured the scene and launched a criminal investigation.
Investigators collected wall fragments and other physical evidence. Meanwhile, they questioned employees and nearby residents.
“We have processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses. Our Criminal Investigation Unit continues to investigate the case,” AKP Karnoto said.
For now, police continue to search for leads. As retail theft cases increase in the region, authorities urge store owners to strengthen security systems and surveillance backups.
The Tulungagung minimarket burglary marks another incident targeting modern retail outlets in the area.
