TULUNGAGUNG – A fatal motorcycle accident in Tulungagung Regency left one rider dead after his motorbike lost balance and crashed on a public road in Serut on Saturday night. Police said the accident happened on a village access road and involved no other vehicles.
The victim was identified as RAA, 48, a resident of Jepun. He was riding a Honda Revo with plate number AG 2393 SW and was traveling with a passenger, identified as S, 50, from Kutoanyar.
The crash took place at around 8 p.m. when the motorcycle was moving from south to north. Witnesses told officers that the bike suddenly swerved near the scene before falling directly onto the road surface.
M Taufik Nabila, head of traffic police in Tulungagung, said investigators checked the location soon after receiving the report. Officers also gathered statements from nearby residents who saw the crash happen.
He said early findings point to a loss of vehicle control while the rider was still moving at normal speed. “The rider likely failed to control the motorcycle properly, causing it to sway and then fall,” he said.
The impact caused severe injuries to RAA, and he died at the scene before emergency help arrived. His passenger survived but suffered injuries and later received treatment after officers completed the evacuation.
Police moved the victim to hospital while another team managed traffic around the accident area. Officers also secured the motorcycle, registration papers, and personal identification for further examination.
Authorities estimated material losses at around Rp 500,000. Investigators said the damage mainly affected the motorcycle after it hit the road.
Police also reminded motorists to stay cautious when traveling at night, especially on roads with limited lighting. They said concentration and speed control remain important to prevent single-vehicle accidents in rural areas.
The latest crash has added to traffic safety concerns in Tulungagung, where police continue urging riders to maintain full control of their vehicles during evening travel.
