RADAR TULUNGAGUNG – A motorcycle theft in Tulungagung left a 66-year-old farmer without his vehicle after thieves stole his bike while he was cutting grass in a rice field on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on a farm road in Banaran hamlet, Sukorejo village, Karangrejo district. The victim, Saroni, had parked his red and black Honda Supra Fit about 700 meters from his home before entering the field to gather livestock feed.
Karangrejo police chief AKP Neni Endah said Saroni arrived at the site at about 11:45 a.m. and left the motorcycle by the roadside with the key still in the ignition. He then walked into the rice field to cut grass.
While the victim worked in the field, two men on another motorcycle approached from the north. They stopped near the parked bike. The passenger got off, mounted Saroni’s motorcycle, and rode away toward the south.
The theft happened within seconds, leaving the victim no chance to pursue the suspects. Saroni later reported the case to Karangrejo police.
Officers visited the scene soon after receiving the report. They examined the area and questioned witnesses as part of the investigation. “Our team moved immediately to the location and continues to search for the suspects,” Neni said.
The stolen motorcycle is valued at about 6.5 million rupiah, roughly 400 US dollars. Police urged residents to remain vigilant when parking vehicles in open areas such as fields or plantations.
“Always lock your vehicle and never leave the key attached. This helps prevent motorcycle theft,” Neni added.
