TULUNGAGUNG – Eid return traffic increased across several parts of Tulungagung during the peak of the Idul Fitri return flow on Tuesday, although traffic conditions on major roads remained smooth and under control.
Police said they did not find major congestion or long queues on key routes, even as more vehicles returned from holiday trips.
Muhammad Taufik Nabila, head of traffic police at the local police department, said officers continued monitoring traffic conditions from morning until midday.
He said traffic remained manageable and no serious buildup appeared on the main roads.
“Based on today’s traffic monitoring, there has been no buildup or congestion on the roads,” Taufik said.
Even so, police recorded a noticeable rise in vehicle volume on Sunday and Monday afternoon.
The increase appeared at several local crossings and inter-regional access points that usually become busy during the Eid return period.
Traffic officers identified Jetakan, Cuiri, and Lembu Peteng as the busiest areas during that period.
Those points connect local roads with routes linking Kediri and Trenggalek, making them important for regional vehicle movement.
“On Sunday and Monday afternoon, traffic increased in Jetakan, Cuiri, and Lembu Peteng, both on local routes and crossings from Kediri to Trenggalek,” he said.
Police also observed traffic conditions on the southern side of Tulungagung.
That corridor remained relatively quiet compared with northern and central routes.
The southern route includes access to coastal roads and the Jalur Lintas Selatan corridor, which often attracts travelers heading toward beach destinations.
Taufik said fewer visitors in the southern area helped traffic stay smooth throughout the day.
Because vehicle numbers remained low, officers did not need additional traffic engineering in that corridor.
Even with stable conditions, police continue intensive monitoring at points that showed earlier increases.
Officers also maintain traffic control to ensure drivers can move safely during the final phase of holiday travel.
Authorities expect vehicle movement to remain dynamic until evening as more residents complete their return trips.
Police urged drivers to stay alert, follow road signs, and avoid speeding during long-distance travel.
They also hope controlled traffic conditions will help residents return from hometown visits safely and comfortably.
