TULUNGAGUNG – A suspected domestic violence case in Tulungagung has triggered a police investigation after a woman reported repeated abuse allegedly committed by her husband in Sumberagung Village, Rejotangan District.
The victim, identified as SZ, 44, suffered injuries during two incidents that reportedly happened on consecutive days. Police identified S, 41, the victim’s husband, as the reported suspect.
Rejotangan Police Chief AKP Kasianto said the first incident occurred on Friday morning around 8 a.m. at the husband’s house in Krajan Hamlet, Sumberagung Village.
Police said the victim came to the house because she wanted to return to her family home. The husband allegedly opposed her decision, and the disagreement quickly escalated into an argument.
“The victim wanted to go home, but her husband refused. During the argument, the suspect allegedly threw a metal container and a coffee glass. The broken pieces struck the area below the victim’s right eye,” Kasianto said on Saturday.
The conflict reportedly continued the next morning. On Saturday around 7 a.m., the suspect allegedly struck the victim near her right temple, leaving visible bruises.
Investigators also said the suspect pushed the woman during the incident. She then fell onto a nearby motorcycle and suffered additional pain.
The victim later visited Rejotangan Police Station and filed an official report at around 12:50 p.m. on Saturday. After receiving the complaint, police officers immediately went to the location to inspect the scene and question several people connected to the case.
“Based on our initial examination and questioning, the victim’s husband allegedly committed the violence,” Kasianto added.
Village officials had attempted to settle the dispute through family mediation. However, the victim and her relatives rejected the proposal and asked police to continue the legal process.
During the investigation, officers collected several items from the scene. Police secured a small wooden stool and a yellow metal biscuit container as evidence linked to the alleged assault.
Authorities later transferred both parties to the Women and Children Protection Unit at Tulungagung Police for further legal proceedings. Investigators continue examining the case and have not announced possible charges.
