TRENGGALEK – Trenggalek vehicle tax revenue continued to grow in the first half of 2026, strengthening optimism among local officials that annual collection targets will be achieved.

Data recorded through June 8 showed positive results from vehicle tax (PKB) and vehicle ownership transfer fee (BBNKB) collections. The local government attributed the growth to stronger taxpayer compliance, expanded payment services, and ongoing public outreach programs.

Asmungi, Head of Accounting and Reporting at the Trenggalek Regional Financial and Revenue Management Agency (BPKPD), said authorities have intensified efforts to encourage residents to meet their tax obligations.

Officials regularly conduct public awareness campaigns and send reminder letters to vehicle owners whose taxes are approaching their due dates.

In addition, the government works with related agencies to carry out joint inspection operations. These checks help identify vehicle owners who have not fulfilled their tax obligations.

“Taxpayers who have not made payments will receive warning letters so they can immediately settle their obligations,” Asmungi said.

The administration has also benefited from incentive programs launched by the East Java provincial government. Those initiatives include fee reductions and tax relief measures designed to encourage timely payments.

Furthermore, Trenggalek has expanded access to digital tax payment services. Vehicle owners can now complete transactions through online banking platforms, mobile applications, and digital wallets. Officials believe these options make the payment process faster and more convenient.

At the same time, traditional services remain available across the regency. Mobile Samsat units, drive-thru tax services, and district-level service points continue operating to improve accessibility.

The positive trend follows a strong performance in 2025.

Last year, vehicle tax revenue exceeded its target by a significant margin. The regency collected Rp 44.14 billion from vehicle taxes, equal to 107.61 percent of the annual target.

Revenue from vehicle ownership transfer fees also surpassed expectations. Collections reached Rp 12.96 billion, or 102.78 percent of the target.

Encouraged by those results, the local government raised its 2026 revenue goals.

The vehicle tax revenue target increased from approximately Rp 41 billion to Rp 45.2 billion. Authorities also increased the target for vehicle ownership transfer fees by around 10 percent compared with the previous year.

Recent figures indicate that the regency remains on track to achieve those goals.

As of June 8, vehicle tax collections had reached Rp 17.77 billion. That figure represents nearly 40 percent of the annual target.

Revenue from vehicle ownership transfer fees performed even better. Collections reached around Rp 6.84 billion, or roughly 65 percent of the target.

Officials expect tax revenue to continue rising during the second half of the year. They plan to maintain compliance campaigns, expand service accessibility, and encourage residents to take advantage of digital payment options.

Overall, the strong performance highlights growing taxpayer compliance and supports Trenggalek’s efforts to strengthen local revenue for future development programs.
